Postdoctoral Research Associate
King’s College London
Reference: THW/16/059639/001072
Salary Details: £32,600 to £35,609 per annum
Allowances: Plus £2,323 London Allowance
Contract Type: Temporary/Fixed term
Contract Term: Full time
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral researcher to perform statistical analysis building predictive models for morbidity (disease onset) and mortality (death) using data on environmental and genetic risk factors. Models will be created using the UK Biobank, a longitudinal epidemiological study which recruited 500,000 people aged between 40-69 years in 2006-2010 from across the country. UK Biobank participants have detailed information on health status from self-report measures and NHS data linkage. Combined with genome-wide genotyping, the resource forms a powerful tool for modelling health and disease. A primary purpose of the study is to build predictive models, and establish the additional value obtained using genetic information in addition to standard environmental and family history risk factors.
The post-holder will work in the Statistical Genetics Unit, with Professor Cathryn Lewis and Dr Paul O'Reilly at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, Denmark Hill campus. The post is an excellent opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher in statistics to consolidate their research profile and develop sought-after skills in analysis of the UK Biobank, and in predictive modelling.
This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.
This is a Full-time post.
The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £32,600 to £35,609 per annum, (or Grade 5 (£31,656) for an applicant pending award of their PhD) plus £2,323 per annum London Allowance.
The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation and a panel interview.
Interviews are scheduled to be held on 29 September 2016.
The deadline for applications is midnight on 8 September 2016.
Closing date: 08 September 2016
