The Movement Neuroscience Laboratory, directed by Eugene Tunik in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Science at Northeastern University, is recruiting 1-2 Postdoctoral Research Associates to be involved in projects studying the neural bases of online motor control and adaptation in healthy populations and individuals with pathology. Methodologies in the lab include 3D immersive virtual reality and mixed-reality (Vizard, Worldviz) with integrated Phantom 1.5 Premium manipulandum, motion capture, tDCS/tACS/tRNS (Neuroconn), neuronavigated single- and paired-pulse TMS (Brainsight and Magstim), peripheral stimulator for paired associative stimulation. State of the art 3T-MRI scanning facilities are available. The appointments are for one year with possibility of renewal, pending funding and performance. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2016, but is flexible.
A Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, bioengineering, computer science, mathematics, or psychology, with emphasis on motor control / motor learning is required. Experience with human behavioral experiments, fMRI, or EMG/TMS approaches is strongly preferred. The candidate should have strong computational skills, proficiency in programming (MATLAB, Python, or C++), strong communication skills, and self-initiative / ability to work independently.
