Hi Lucy,
There is an abundance of free apps which are downloadable - most recommended DSA software has a free alternative which can vary in its effectiveness and usability. If you email me the equipment you currently have at your disposal I can cobble together a "freeware" software list depending on your resources and requirements. I have worked through a great deal of free apps and software so am happy to advise once I have a few additional bits of information.
Feel free to email me off-list so I can help with the equipment/software/adaptions part of your request [😊]
If you are currently stuck and have a computer you could start by downloading some free trials of software which you may have used before. A majority of the recommended software has a free download period (apart from Dragon Naturally Speaking).
Keep you chin up - you will be surprised how many Social Workers are dyslexic - I have two in my immediate family!
Kind regards,
John Hodgson

Dear Dis-forum online,
I am emailing you as I have been liaising with Melanie Thorley, Access Ability Project Coordinator to establish either some support with other students who are in a similar situation has me with a learning difficulty of dyslexia. I’m currently re-submitting 3 essays (no extenuating circumstances) – which I’ve had very little support with from the Disability and Welfare Team( with resources for my personal needs). But I’ve met with all 3 tutors to establish where I’m going wrong with my essays; and I’ve been given further guidance on my structuring, grammar and the use of the English/Academic language. However, this has been an ongoing issue from my first year in 2013 on my social worker degree programme – which has left me feeling anxious, deflated and stressed in not acquiring the level to pass my modules.
Melanie suggests liaising with your group – whom may have some ideas, group support and further advice.
I’m not entitled to financial support from the Student Finance Department due to an outstanding debt many years ago. Therefore, I continue to attempt to pay for equipment, private tutoring and other material’s etc. I look forward to your support and recommendations in due course.
Yours Faithfully
