It will indeed (in general) give more options for assignment. The tolerances are as set in the Experiment —> Spectra dialog in the Tolerances tab, in the Assignment Tolerance column of the top table. Double Tolerances will indeed double those. It’s a quick way of looking a bit further afield (you could also change the actual tolerances in that table).
