We are pleased to announce a one-day workshop to be held at the University of Bristol on Wednesday 7th September, 9.30-17.00, on modelling data from multi-scale data streams.
Over the past few years there has been rapid development of new measurement technologies, which have dramatically increased the spatial and temporal resolution at which we can study environmental processes. The statistical methodologies enabling the realistic analysis of these data appear to have lagged behind the technological advances in the collection of such data. We therefore propose a workshop that will aim to bring together researchers in statistics and mathematics together with researchers and data collectors from environmental and ecological sciences to aid communication and contribute to ideas for further partnerships in this important current and future research area. The main aim of the workshop will be to highlight the areas in environmental sciences that are in need of new and bespoke methodologies, with particular reference to those areas shared across multiple disciplines in order to maximise the use of these new data sets. The workshop will consist of 6 invited speakers, culminating in a chaired discussion session to help stimulate further discussion from the talks and highlight future priorities in the field.
