I would like to bring to your attention the discussion in the decision letter
and the author response. It shows a quite frequent type of problem that appears
during reviews.
Elife permits making reviews public, and the example of interest is here:
https://elifesciences.org/content/5/e15718
How to respond to reviewer comments came up before in the CCP4BB, which is why
I am sharing this now.
Among other problems, this shows that the knowledge of how to determine data
symmetry (Laue group) is deteriorating to the extent that a reviewer has trouble
accepting one of the most standard decisions. It seems to me that most of the
current errors are towards lower symmetry, so depositing structures in higher
symmetries than than actual one would be rather unexpected. Therefore, having
doubts about this seems strange.
