Kevin
Roughly 75% of our report contains MMS ids beginning with 99 - the bulk of the rest begin with 21 - and a smattering of 51s.

Subject: Re: [LIS-TALIS-ASPIRE] Primo bookmarking - LCN, MMS, PNX, IEP, IEE
Hello Julie,
Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. Hope that you do not mind me leaving this reply on-list as I would still like to hear from others about their data.
I think it might help me if you (and anyone else) could answer these questions for me as a starter:
If you download an All List Items report for your tenancy, are 100% (or close to it) of your LCNs begin with: 991... ?
If not, what percentage approx begin with 201, 221, or any other format?
My understanding from conversations with Talis and others is that the PNX ID is the same as the IEP ID, which you can obtain from Alma Analytics under Physical Items > Physical Item Details > IEP.
These are the numbers that begin with 221 or 201. Or in your case of the FAQ you have posted, it appears they begin with 214, you can see this in the <sourcerecordid> field and the <almaid> field in that example.
Our All List Items data contains a mixture of the two fields (and a small amount of another data type, which begin with a 5, which I think are referred to as IEE numbers and come from eBook records bookmarked from Primo), and ideally I would prefer if it was just one identifier (the MMS ID preferably) in the LCN fields to do data matching with Alma holdings / circ / recalls etc.
I am considering asking Talis to do some consultancy reworking on our data to repopulate the LCN field in all bookmarks with the MMS IDs rather than the IEP IDs, but I am trying to find out existing practices among other institutions first; and if there is any reason why someone would prefer the IEP to be in the LCN field over the MMS.
Hope that's clear... again apologies to all if I am missing something obvious. I am a newcomer to Alma so still learning the ropes.

Kevin

Hi Kevin
Not sure I've fully understood the question but I think the MMS ID is the PNX ID. Have a look at an FAQ we created here to see if that helps: https://faqs.aber.ac.uk/1297 And I understood that yes the LCN field in bookmarks is populated by the MMS_ID generated from Primo.
Finally we use the data in Aspire for purchasing material to resource reading list. We use reviews only for digitisation. We run items added to lists report three times per week and then check against the number of copies on stock (which was automated when we had Voyager but we can't do that with Alma because of the 66k rule in Analytics and anyway it was proving too imperfect so we've reverted to manual checking) and we check this against number of students on the module. This is all done with Excel spreadsheets. It isn't perfect but it got us up and running in a very short space of time and very little resource. Happy to discuss further if you wish to contact me off list.
Best
Julie

Morning,
Sorry to post this again, but I would really appreciate some more feedback - thank you very much to the one person who replied off-list.
I know there are other Alma & Aspire users out there!
Any experience or information you have about this would be useful. Particularly about the relationship between the PNX and the MMS IDs.
I am working on the assumption that it is a 1:1 relationship, if anyone can confirm this...?
Thank you,
Kevin

Afternoon,
I'm new to Alma and Primo, so still working out some of the idiosyncrasies of both.
Apologies if this has been covered before, but I could not find anything on it.
For other Alma users: what information is populating the LCN field in your bookmarks generated from Primo?
Is the MMS ID (99...), or the PNX ID (201... or 221...) ?
Do you use your reading list data (e.g. the All List Items report) as part of occasional usage analysis projects or regular stock maintenance tasks, matching that data up with circulation stats or holdings data from Alma?
Thanks,
Kevin
