Dear Colleagues
I am presenting a case to our risk and compliance team for access to streamed educational content via YouTube / Vimeo or similar digital services.
IT security and acceptable use policies in trusts vary, with some allowing access and others denying or restricting access, with concerns that it would place excessive demands on IT networks, data confidentiality issues or possible misuse by staff and students.
I would be very grateful if trusts who have access to YouTube or other video streaming / download services would be prepared to share the following with me (any information would be appreciated):
- your trust (IT) policy governing the use of YouTube or similar services
- an idea of how access is provided (e.g. is access granted to all staff or named staff and by default to all staff or on request, on dedicated library PCs)
- how your trust manages access, particularly regulating content that is uploaded (e.g. is access completely unrestricted or do staff have a quota of time per day, or perhaps access is limited to predefined educational content?)
- if you have submitted a business case / risk assessment yourself, it would really help if you would be willing to share this (fine if you need to redact anything beforehand). Alternatively, if more convenient please give me a call on the number below.
Many thanks for your help.
