This is an exciting opportunity to make a personal contribution to the University of Westminster’s growth strategy for Research and Academic Enterprise.
Part of a newly-established Business Operations team within the Commercial Development and Business Support (CD&BS) Department at the University of Westminster, you will provide post-award support to the Academic teams leading the work.
You will have a passion for research and its successful application to achieve impact and client satisfaction, you will have demonstrable experience in project management processes and practices. Possessing strong interpersonal skills, you will also be well organised, able to take the initiative and be a good team player. You will show competence in corporate management data bases (e.g. finance and human resources systems) and it would be valuable if you had experience in research ethics.
Although managed centrally, your support service will be delivered locally and it is likely that you will spend a significant amount of your time co-located with the academic research teams whose projects you are supporting.
There are a number of projects which need supporting, one of them is led by the School of Media, Arts and Design. This role will support a mixed portfolio of research projects, initially focussing approximately three days a week on a Black music history project based at the our Harrow campus. Your duties will vary from making flights booking and arranging academic conferences to filming and arranging oral history interviews and also managing the relationship with the interview subjects. You will be coordinating around twenty volunteers working at partner institutions and you will also negotiate copyright clearances for music, images and film to be re-used in multiple media. You will also help to co-ordinate a budget and oversee its related legal paperwork.
This is just an example of the many exciting projects you will be working on and you will be working flexibly amongst a variety of projects at the various University Campuses.
