Plastid Preview 2016, September in Edinburgh - a conference for early
career researcher
Dear all,
I would like to warmly invite UK/EU researchers to attend The Plastid
Preview meeting in Edinburgh this year.
This meeting is a great opportunity for UK/EU PhD students and young
researchers working in any area of plastid biology to meet and foster
networks with other young
and senior scientists.
The two-day conference is FREE TO ATTEND and is aimed at specifically
attracting early career researchers to present their work.

Last year's meeting hosted by Prof. Christine Raines at the University
of Essex was particularly relevant for current hot topics such as food
security and biotechnology, and highlighted the exciting progress
currently being
made in engineering plants for enhanced photosynthesis and microalgae
for producing high value products. Similarly, new research informing our
fundamental understanding of plastid biology was presented, including
novel research of the dark and the light reactions of photosynthesis and
the involvement of circadian rhythms. A further highlight of that
meeting was the conference dinner - a good evening was had by all as
scientific discussions continued into the small hours. Overall, the
conference was very well received by both senior and young attendees. We
aim to build on last
year's success!
This Plastid Preview will be held at the ECCI in the University of
Edinburgh
on 19th-20th September:
19th September: 1.00pm - 5.00pm followed by Conference Dinner
20th September: 9.00am - 4.30pm
Free accommodation will be provided for the night of 19th September.
Please do register for this event. Further details and a full event
programme will follow soon.
Registration closes on the 15th July.
Best regards,
Alistair McCormick
