Hi Tracey,
We had the same request from one of our ICUs so we set up a trial for them to do the comparison work.
Unfortunately they decided it was too much work and didn't go ahead so we are none the wiser and without our own validation cannot condone the practice.
Regards
Kerry

Subject: Arterial Blood Samples for Ketone testing?
Dear all,
ICU staff have asked if they can use arterial blood with their blood ketone meter. The Nova meter is validated for capillary and venous blood only and the DKA guidelines don't recommend the use of arterial blood. Does anyone perform ketone testing on arterial blood in their Trust or had a similar request? Any advice/ information would be appreciated. Thanks.
