This is an interesting study and would welcome sight of the results for future reference.
However when we have reviewed this sort of equipment, for POCT support, we decided as this did not involve a sample then this did not constitute a POCT test in the true sense of the word.
What are other users view on the status of this piece of equipment, POCT or not?

Subject: Draeger transcutaneous bilirubinometer evaluation/audit
We are planning a clinical audit of the use of the Draeger transcutaneous bilirubinometers used by our community midwife team. The aim of the audit is to assess the clinical effectiveness of the meters in screening babies who require referral and treatment and to compare the values from the meter to the results produced when they babies arrive at the hospital for further assessment.
I was wondering if anyone else has audited the use of this instrument and would be willing to share the structure and content of the audit? I would also be interested in any evaluation data comparing the meters to lab methods or other available POCT methods for bilirubin?
Best wishes
