Royal Society of Chemistry Education Coordinator, Wales (Maternity Cover)
Salary: £31, 656 - £37, 768 per annum, pro rata for hours worked

We seek to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual for the above position, based at Cardiff University, School of Chemistry.
The role holder will work as part of a team of Education Coordinators across the UK & Ireland to coordinate and promote the activities of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Education Team at a regional level. They will work with the other Education Coordinator in Wales to develop and maintain strong and effective networks of contacts across the education and science outreach communities in Wales. The successful candidate will aim to increase engagement with those teaching chemistry, studying chemical sciences and involved in employing chemical scientists at all levels.
They will also seek to engage, enthuse and inform the general public to increase understanding of the importance and impact of the chemical sciences. The post is full-time: 80% working commitment as RSC Education Coordinator, Wales, and 20% working commitment with Cardiff School of Chemistry’s Outreach Team, including coordinating the Spectroscopy in a Suitcase scheme.
The successful candidate should be educated to degree level in chemistry or a closely related discipline and will have sound knowledge of chemistry, experience of managing projects or events and an understanding of the education system in the UK and especially in Wales. They will also have good communication skills, team working skills, organisational skills, and the ability to work independently when required. A full driving license and a willingness to travel regularly and occasionally work outside normal business hours are also required as the job entails travel to schools and the community where public transport links are not viable.
This post is available from July 2016 to cover maternity leave for a period of 9-12 months.
