The Lithuanian Library for the Blind, on the occasion
of its 50th anniversary and to mark Library Year in
Lithuania, is organizing an international conference
'Libraries for an inclusive society' on 24-25
October 2016 in Vilnius.
The goal of the conference is to encourage a dialogue
to realize the full potential of people with disabilities to
participate in social, cultural and economic life by
developing inclusive library services both at national level
and across country borders.
Public, academic and special librarians, policy-makers,
researchers and professionals at institutions serving people
with disabilities are invited to attend.
The keynote speaker is
Victoria Owen, Chief Librarian at the University of Toronto
Scarborough.
The first day will have plenary and thematic sessions on
'Reaching out: successful practices of inclusive
services in libraries' and 'Strengthening library
capacity to develop inclusive services'.
The second day is a workshop on 'Copyright solutions
for inclusive library services', featuring the
Marrakesh
Treaty for persons with print
disabilities.
The conference is sponsored by the
Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, the
Lithuanian Council for Culture, and Library Year
2016.
The conference partners are EIFL and the
