Subject: in search of a suitable ab-initio course book for German
Dear colleagues,
At Bangor University, we are looking for an affordable and intensive textbook, and I am wondering if anyone has had positive experiences with any specific textbook currently on the market.
We are offering a German ab-initio course in the first year of study that may lead to a BA-degree in German. Students are hoped to have achieved more or less B1 in German when they enter the second year of their studies, during which they are also united with the post-A-level students from year one.
We are looking for a coursebook that includes the levels A1-B1, and that may be used for a course lasting 22 weeks (5 hours per week, 110 contact hours in total).
We have been using Neue Horizonte (too expensive for our students) and Delfin in the past, but we are now looking for a more up-to-date (especially in the case of Delfin) and comprehensive coursebook that offers attractive exercises and also a detailed grammar section (preferably in English).
Many thanks for your time in advance and best wishes,
Stefan Baumgarten
