The Odysseus Academic Network is recruiting two young graduates or young professionals to fill two remunerated internship positions. The positions last for 6 months, with a salary of €751 per month. One of the successful candidates will be expected to start work at the beginning of July, and the other at the beginning of September.
The interns will work as part of the OMNIA Project Team, consisting of five people in total. The main goal of the project is to foster a vibrant community of researchers and professors throughout the EU in the field of EU immigration and asylum law. The project aims to gather information, enhance learning and exchange practices in this area. More information on the activities involved in the project can be found here.
The tasks of the interns are shared to some extent, although one of the successful candidates will ideally have a strong background and interest in communications, with the other candidate ideally having a strong background and interest in legal research. Applications from individuals with either profile are welcome. As Odysseus is a network of academics, applicants interested in academia are strongly encouraged to apply.
The role involves the following tasks:
Co-ordinating the Odysseus Network Blog – managing weekly publications, including liaising with contributors, publishing content online, carrying out related communication and promotional activities
Drafting and disseminating the Odysseus Network newsletter
Managing the Network’s social media accounts
Supporting the development of online databases, including the compilation of EU legislation on immigration and asylum for the first legislative database (research, classification)
Contributing to the organisation and follow up of the Odysseus Summer School
Researching and preparing content for an e-learning module on Access to EU territory (Visa and external borders policies, including Frontex and solidarity in those fields)
Various other tasks related to the implementation of the project
Applicants should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
Master in EU law (other disciplines such as economics, political science, international relations, or European studies may be considered), with excellent marks
Knowledge of and interest in EU law and policies on immigration and asylum
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English; proficiency in French is highly desirable
Knowledge of ICT, including the capacity to maintain a website on WordPress and social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter
Ability to be proactive, plan and work autonomously
Ability to communicate clearly, easily and quickly
Ability to network and coordinate with a group of people
