Subject: [COMMUNITYPSYCHUK] 366 Days of Biking, Day 366 FINAL CALL FOR DONATIONS!
Hi everyone
Just an update to round things off. Total for the leap year, 12,003.9 miles, 1,020,835 ft climbing, but more importantly, as it currently stands, £1260.50 for the British Red Cross.
A small team of friends who have also been riding every day for the month of April takes our TOTAL RAISED SO FAR TO £2220.29.
I don't want to keep clogging up this list, so this is just a final call for those of you who intended to donate but have not got around to it yet: THERE IS STILL TIME TO DONATE!
Many thanks again
Penny

Hi CommPsy listers
If this plea offends as inappropriate use of the list, it can be deleted.
I've been riding my bike for a whole leap year and today is the last day. I've ridden 11,985.7 miles and climbed
1,019,352 feet. So all being well today I will pass the
12,000 mile mark. You can read more of my story in the attachment.
But I'm doing this to highlight the desperate situation of refugees in the world at the moment. Yesterday the UN said the situation in Syria's city of Aleppo is catastrophic, after dozens of people were killed in attacks on targets including a hospital. Just last week, the British Red Cross was part of an international operation delivering food, medical supplies and clean water to residents of Al Hastan, near Homs. And yet just on Tuesday, MPs voted in Parliament to turn away 3000 Syrian refugees. These are unaccompanied refugees, children fending for themselves. 10,000 children have disappeared alone in Europe. Agencies say that children are committing ‘survival sex’ they are being abused, subject to prostitution, and rape. England alone has approximately 1500 towns (the total for the UK is about 2000). That doesn't include villages. So that's just 2 children per town.
This is why I am raising money for the British Red Cross, which helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.
It's not just the money but the show of support that's important, so it can be seen that people do care, particularly about the refugee situation. This is what I hope anyway!

Thank you!
Penny
