Dear All,
My service (a local authority RO) is planning to launch a Facebook page over the next few weeks. A colleague and I are setting it up and have discovered that we have to use an existing personal Facebook account in order to set up a business page. Neither of us is comfortable with using our own Facebook account for a multitude of reasons. We assume that the workaround is to generate a fake profile (we realise that this may result in friend requests but we have a ‘name’ in mind which we hope people won’t generally be searching for) but we wondered what other services have done. Other services within our local authority have launched Facebook pages but there isn’t any official ‘how to’ within our local authority and there is no mention of it in the existing social media best practice guidance.
We’d be very interested to hear what other services have done.
Many thanks,
Nichola
