The conference Im/Material: Encounters within the Creative Arts Archive brings together UK and international artists, archivists, curators and academics to consider the role of the archive in the creation, interpretation and preservation of culture.
Over two days, the event offers an exciting programme of talks, discussions, screenings, exhibitions and other immersive events which foreground archives and special collections within the creative arts.
University of the Arts London houses an extraordinary range of archives, special collections and museum collections, that reflect the rich traditions and specialisms of the six constituent colleges.

FILM SCREENINGS, OBJECT HANDLING SESSIONS, EXHIBITIONS:
An opportunity to interact with the archives and special collections held and curated by the University of the Arts London. It will include screenings of films programmed by experimental filmmakers Professor William Raban and Donatella Barbieri, as well as extracts from the British Artists’ Film and Video Collection held at UAL Central Saint Martins. Student curators will lead guided tours of the exhibitions. UAL collection managers will use a selection of items which can be handled, to demonstrate how an enquiring encounter with archives can facilitate an experiential learning experience.
