Dear Colleagues
While some subscribers may not wish to receive some of the messages
which come across the AM list, I think that the ASA view (and it's they
who manage he AM list on behalf of the Anthropology Matters Postgraduate
network) would be that such requests as have been seen today, are
'reasonable use'.
This list is largely used for circulating CFPs, conference
announcements, publication news, and jobs. However that is not the sole
remit/purpose, and as a 'network' aimed originally/primarily at students
and early career scholars, which is global in its spread, the seeking of
references, articles, advice, colleagues' views, and other such things,
are good uses of such a tool. Indeed it is likely that these are some
of what the originators/founders of this list envisaged.
There will be emails many subscribers are not interested in, so all list
users should be considerate in their usage. Current practice, including
today's request, I think shows this understanding.
Yours
Rohan
