1) maternity and newborn forum: the basil lee bursary for innovation in communication
Submission deadline: Monday 2 May 2016
Meeting date: Friday 1 July 2016
Prize: £500.00 will be awarded for the winner to develop their new media skills, and a year’s membership to the RSM.
Open to: Members and non-members of the RSM. This will include students, trainees and other professionals who specialise in maternity and/ or surrounding disciplines who are registered in the UK.
The bursary is to enable students, trainees and other professionals who are registered in the UK to develop their new media skills which relates to the subject of maternity. The winner will be invited to present at the next Maternity & the newborn forum section meeting which is on Friday 1 July 2016.
Submission process:
Entrants will need to submit the following:
CV
A description of the innovative way they have communicated/plan to communicate to mothers and fathers on a topic in the field of maternity care and how they will further develop this or their skills with the bursary money.
Entries can take a variety of forms such as a short video, an app , pictures, animations or people telling their stories to communicate the topic.

2) Maternity The Luke Zander research support bursary
Submission deadline: The deadline for this academic year has now passed. Next year's deadline will be advertised soon.
Meeting date: Friday 27 November 2015
Prize: One prize of £500 and a year’s membership to the RSM
The prize winner is permitted to spend funding in any way to support their research.
Open to: This bursary is to honour Luke Zander a founding member of the Forum and an innovator in maternity care. The prize is open to members and non-members of the RSM.
The bursary is to enable health professionals, students and others who are registered in the UK as a student to progress their research in the field of maternity care or care of the newborn. Entrants will need to submit a CV and a summary of current research and how the prize money will be spent if awarded. The word count is 750 words maximum. The prize winner will be invited to present their research at a future Maternity and the Newborn Forum meeting.

3) Maternity The Wendy Savage travel bursary
Submission deadline: Submissions for this academic year have now closed
Meeting date: Monday 22 February 2016
Prize: One prize of £750 to cover overseas travel or £500 to cover travel within the UK and a year’s membership to the RSM will be awarded.
Open to: The prize is open to members and non-members of the RSM. The prize is open to maternity health professionals and students or obstetric students and trainees registered in the UK
This bursary is to honour Wendy Savage, a long standing member of the Forum.
The bursary is to enable maternity health professionals and students or obstetric students and trainees registered in the UK to attend a conference to present a paper based on their research in the field of maternity care or care of the newborn.
Entrants will need to submit a version of the paper to be presented at the conference (this can be in draft format), a CV, a description of the conference and the benefit that this will have to the recipient and a summary of travel costs, either in the UK or overseas
The word count is 750 word maximum. The prize will invited to receive their award at the Maternity and the Newborn Forum meeting taking place on Monday 22 February 2016.
