Apologies for cross posting, sent on behalf of a colleague at BU.
Dear Colleagues,
The following details an opportunity that may be of great interest to your students, particularly if they are undertaking a degree in communication (PR, marketing, advertising, political communication and related subjects) or computer animation. Please pass this message on if you think it would be of interest to them. The deadline for application is April 30 (extended two weeks from the original deadline of the 15th). So they'd need to make a decision quickly, but it really is a great programme.
Communication Summer Academy 2016 - July 24 - August 6, Quito, Ecuador
Bournemouth University is partnering with the University of the Americas (UDLA) in Quito, Ecuador, to offer higher education students a two-week long communication summer school from July 24 to August 6, 2016. The Communication Summer Academy is now in its second year and will build upon the success of the inaugural programme in 2015.
Classes at the Academy will be delivered in English, by lecturers from Latin America and the UK. Students will have the choice to participate in classroom-based lectures and workshops in one of two subjects - computer animation and advertising/social communication (health communication will be a topic of focus for students choosing this pathway). You will also have the opportunity to take community film and documentary courses. Last year's cohort included students from the UK, Ecuador, Peru and Argentina. This multicultural learning environment resulted in great debates and encouraged the development of skills related to working in international teams.
A number of cultural activities and field trips will complement the academic programme of the Summer Academy. Planned activities include visits to communities in the Andes and trips to an Ecuadorian advertising agency and TV station. You'll also experience Quito's Old Town - one of the very first UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Last year's Academy offered participating staff and students an enriching and unforgettable experience (the student feedback was excellent). This year promises to be even better. For those that may be interested, UDLA is also offering an optional 3-week intensive Spanish language course.
For more information on the Communication Summer Academy, including fees and how to apply (the application deadline is April 30th), please see the attached brochure. Interested students can also consult the Academy website at:
