Not this period, but in this area, log books for the National School at
Benenden from 1873 to early 1900s show the following holidays. Typically
two weeks at Christmas, one week at Easter, one week for Whit week and
six weeks from the end of August until the middle of October - this last
timed for hop-picking. The word "term" was not used and perhaps the
concept was not then applicable?
