I am researching rural schools in my part of Kent during the first half
of the nineteenth century and have found numerous advertisements in the
local newspapers for schools re-opening in January and July. The latter
suggests a two term, or possibly a four term, year. Clearly these are
for private/fee-paying schools but perhaps their terms mirrored those in
National schools. Can anyone enlighten me please on lengths of terms
and numbers per year during this period?
