Hi Paul;

I was really excited to see that you were looking into this - REALLY EXCITED - so I hope you gather some excellent research, or commission some of your own?!

Student journeys that map reading list use and possible impact on skills/attainment, through the lifetime of their course to their final exams, would be fascinating - and "Talis Scholars" has a nice ring to it! See the info on our Sage scholars here:

http://www.sussex.ac.uk/internal/bulletin/staff/2013-14/081113/sagescholars

Also, didn't the huge research of the Library Impact Data Project at Huddersfield/Jisc start to look at this? Loads on the web about it, which all mention "reading lists", but don't quite pin it down. Definitely an opportunity/gap in the research!

Looking forward to your revelations.....

Best wishes,

Rachel.

Subject: Evidence for the Pedagogical benefits of online reading lists

Hi Everyone,

If you haven't met me - I am Paul and am responsible to developing our new sale in the UK/Europe.

I have recently been asked, by an interested university, about providing any empirical evidence for the pedagogical benefits of online reading lists, especially in the light of the increase in the provision of digital resources for taught courses and the student adoption of technologies.

Whilst we hear lots of anecdotal "evidence" of the value of online reading lists, especially around student satisfaction, NSS score improvements and library workflow efficiencies, it is more difficult to pin down empirical hard facts on this.

We know that a number of Talis users are beginning to research these areas, so we would be really keen to of any work being done in this area. Either via this list, or by contacting us off-list. Beyond the current enquiry I know that this is a theme that we would like to pick up on more widely.

Many thanks for any help.

Regards,

Paul Dibble

Sales Manager

Talis
