Dear all,
I am a Masters student at the Graduate Institute in Geneva doing research on refugee registration as a point of tension between UNHCR and host states. Specifically, I would like to try to identify some of the factors that influence how UNHCR upholds norms regarding the registration of refugees/ asylum seekers at the operational level.
I would be grateful for any information on specific cases where UNHCR has halted registration in an urban context without handover to another actor. Specifically, something like what is currently happening with the suspension of registration of Syrians in Lebanon today if such a precedent exists. Alternatively, any other suggestions or information about contexts where particular tensions between UNHCR and host governments around registration have existed would be much appreciated.
Thank you kindly. Best wishes,
Briana
