Colleagues
We are presently reviewing the guidance and support afforded to UG students undertaking resits and first sit attempts at assessment tasks, primarily (but not exclusively) during the traditional resit period over the summer (for 2 semester/level programmes). My query to colleagues is in two parts:
1) As a research led school, staff availability during the summer can be particularly problematic for supporting students, especially where students are resitting/first sitting research project/dissertation based modules (where there may be no explicit curriculum to work to). What might be expected to be a 'typical' level of support for such students on such modules?
2) We are also considering what support could/should be offered to students who (through no valid/supported reason/mitigation) have not attended sessions in a module/course and then seek additional tutor support to engage with that course/module and its relevant assessments?
I would welcome comments from colleagues on School/institutional practice here.
Many thanks
