Dear List Members
Apologies if this email is not relevant to your interests or research.
I have received a message from a journalist working on a article and she has requested help. Her deadline is very tight, so is requesting assistance by tomorrow. If you are able to help her can you please contact her directly:
I'm a journalist working on a story for the Daily Mail about kitchen appliances and white goods. I'm looking into why they don't last as long as they used to and which ones are the best buys.
I wondered if this was a specialist area for any of your historians? I'm anxious to hear about how goods such as kettles, washing machines and fridges used to be made - what design features meant they lasted so long or were swiftly replaced when something better came along?
Do you know of anyone who might be able to help me? I'd need to speak to them fairly urgently - I have to file my story by tomorrow afternoon.
I do hope you can help.
All the best,
Lorraine
