The Department of English and Comparative Literature at Goldsmiths, University of London, offers a range of bursaries for Master’s and MPhil/PhD students for 2016-17.
*MA bursaries:
Two 50% and two 33% fee waivers for students starting one of our MA programmes:
--MA in Creative and Life Writing (http://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/ma-creative-life-writing/);
--MA in Comparative Literary Studies (with seven pathways: American Literature and Culture; Caribbean Literature and Its Diasporas; Comparative Literature and Criticism; Modern Literary Theory; Modern Literature; Romantic and Victorian Literature and Culture; Shakespeare: Early and Modern) (http://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/ma-comparative-literary-studies/);
--MA in Sociocultural Linguistics (http://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/ma-sociocultural-linguistics);
--MA in Translation (two pathways: Translation Studies or Translation for Tourism pathways) (http://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/ma-translation/)
All other things being equal, priority for the 50% fee waivers will be given to the MA in Translation and to the pathway in ‘Shakespeare: Early and Modern' of the MA in Comparative Literary Studies (http://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/ma-comparative-literary-studies/shakespeare-early-modern/).
Note that these MA fee-waiver bursaries will be in addition to the Goldsmiths Excellence and Alumni 30% fee waivers (http://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/fees-funding/scholarships-2016/). Exclusions based on other awards held may apply.
*MPhil/PhD bursaries:
Up to three fee waivers for full-time and/or part-time MPhil/PhD students (for the academic session 2016-17)
Applications from students working in any field of creative writing, literary criticism, and linguistics are welcome. All other things being equal, the Department will give preference, in the case of one of the bursaries, to high-quality applications focussing on literature before 1830.
Deadline for all of the fee-waivers is 27 May 2016.
Overseas students may apply for all of these fee waivers but should note that the value of each award will be equal to the fees applicable for home/EU students. Exclusions and adjustments based on other awards held may apply.
Information on how apply for the fee waivers can be found at: http://www.gold.ac.uk/ecl/study-with-us/bursaries/, or contact Maria Macdonald ([log in to unmask], 020 7919 7436)
