Dear All
I have a PhD position vacant that is part of a new, interdisciplinary research project on syn-rift sedimentation and tectonics. The project, called 'Syn-Rift Systems', is a multidisciplinary project integrating outcrop and shallow core data from active rift settings, with 3D seismic and well data from the Norwegian continental shelf. The project is led by the University of Bergen with academic partners at the University of Athens, the University of Leeds, the University of East Anglia and the Université de Lorraine (CRPG-CRNS). It is financed by the Research Council of Norway and 6 industry partners.
The PhD will be part of a large digital and traditional field-based study of the Corinth Rift involving a team of postdoctoral and PhD researchers. This specific PhD project will focus on sedimentological and multi-proxy analysis of new core material that is tied to seismic-scale outcrop exposures of Pliocene deep-water, basin-floor deposits from the Corinth Rift, Greece.
The deadline for applications is 13 May 2016, with the successful applicant starting after the summer. Further details about the project and information on how to apply can be found at:

Please let any students or former students who are interested in sedimentology and tectonics, or in multi-proxy palaeoenvironmental research know about this opportunity.
Many thanks
Rob
