School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh
Closing date: 9th May 2016
Applications are invited for a Lectureship in the Mathematics of Data Science. The University of Edinburgh and the School of Mathematics are partners in a consortium that leads the UK’s Alan Turing Institute, a major initiative that drives research and investment in Data Science in the UK. We seek an outstanding candidate with either an existing track record of high-quality research in Data Science, or strong evidence of high research potential. Candidates from any relevant subject area of Statistics, Mathematics or Operational Research will be considered. Applicants should note that during the first two years of appointment the successful candidate will be required to spend the equivalent of one year at the Alan Turing Institute’s British Library Hub in London. This could comprise a single block of time or smaller blocks (for example 3 to 6 month periods).
The post holder will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
