Dear members,
I am part of a team voluntarily assisting a young man accused of blasphemy in Pakistan. The case has been slow to proceed, however it is expected to proceed in the next few months. Legally, there is a mandatory death sentence for blasphemy in Pakistan, which he is highly likely to receive. If by some miracle he doesn't receive the death penalty, it is possible that he will be killed by vigilante groups once his case proceeds and he is back in the media spotlight. This has been the fate of many who have been accused of blasphemy in Pakistan.
I am exploring methods for him to apply for asylum, and leave the country. Sadly, there is no hope for him in Pakistan. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on (a) methods of funding for him to travel to another country and assimilate there, (b) any suggestions on how to approach this scenario, or (c) any contacts who may have some insight or guidance.
I am reluctant to give my name and title, as due to the scenario, being the defendants lawyer I am also under strict security measures at the moment. Please reply directly to this message and your response will be forwarded on.
