Camp Code By Claudia Martinez Mansell
What goes on inside a refugee camp? How is it organized spatially and materially? This photo essay takes readers inside the Palestinian camp of Bourj Al Shamali, in southern Lebanon. Built as a temporary refuge in 1948, it is now an overcrowded, unplanned, permanent ‘city-camp’ made of concrete and asphalt — the urban materialization of an ongoing state of emergency.
