Dear Ananth,
the error means that some fields that you specified were probably empty.
Check that your paths are OK, otherwise try again with the attached
simplified script, normalise.m.
If you still get an error, replace the last line:
spm_jobman('run','matlabbatch');
with
spm_jobman('interactive','matlabbatch');
to display the filled batch instead of running it; you should then see
which entry is the problematic one.
