Hi Folks
I recently asked JISCers for advice on how long people retain audiometric results, and received a number of responses with time frames ranging from 8-15 years. I have recently attended an update audio course and was advised that these records must be kept for 40 years!!
To find the rationale and reference for this, I contacted the BSA and have been informed the following:
"There is no specific time frame l can find. 40 years is advisable as this is the time scale for COSHH and the number of claim specialists pursuing claims retrospectively even in cases of retired workers"
I am struggling to see the health related rationale behind this, unlike progression of work related respiratory disease over the years under COSHH.
I have contacted the BSA for further clarification.
Just thought I would update all you good folk.
Donna
