Subject: 1842 Royal Commission Devon and Cornwall now On Line
Hi Everyone,
Although Ian Winstanley’s transcripts of most of the 1842 Royal Commission
Reports on Children at the Mines have been made available on-line via the
CMHRC website, the one for Cornwall & Devon has not been included. In
collaboration with the Cornwall Studies Library, we have now made this
available on our website. As our web address is blocking this email, it can
be found by doing an internet search for ‘Bal Maiden Home Page’. If you have
problems accessing it, please contact us off line. We had hoped to use
digital images throughout for accuracy, but file sizes were an issue. As a
result it is a hybrid of images (for the tables) and OCR editing for the
text. This has been done from scratch, and not using the work first done by
Ian, so we would be glad if people can report any problems or mistakes.
Thanks,
Lynne Mayers
