Hi Mike and list.
This is not what you specifically asked for… but I thought you might have use for it anyways.
We used a evaluation method where we intentionally avoided a checklist type of evaluation. Our experience was that most CMS systems can and will try to check most checklists however most of the time they still can’t do important tasks well.
We evaluated 10 criteria that we thought were important for a museum CMS, added two that were specific for our museum and then weighted each criteria for our case. We then multiplied our value with the evaluation and got a total for each CMS.
If you are interested I could try translating the swedish parts of our evaluation. It was a bit tricky to google translate an excel document as a whole even after converting it to a google docs spreadsheet.
We thought these fields/criterias were important for a museum (this was five years ago):
Market Momentum
Developer Community
Content Publishing (Simplicity)
Customizable UI (Flexibility)
Built-in Applications (OTB)
WebServices Support
Mashup Support (AJAX Support)
E-commerce Modules
Hosting Services (Cloud etc.)
Language (Java, PHP, .NET) support
and at the end added two additional criteria that was specific to our needs:
Example cost of CMS
Code configuration (flexibility)

Does anyone have a handy “features our (museum) content management system should support” type checklist they can point me at, other than just suggesting I Google it…?
Thanks in advance
Mike
