Hi there,
I wonder if anyone has experience of any purchase to print models in museums they're currently working in?
I've been approached by a museum in the South West who would like to offer visitors the opportunity to select and purchase prints from their extensive photo collection - as far as I see it there'd potentially be two ways of doing this:
- Set up a printing kiosk within the museum itself, so visitors can choose, pay and then take home museum prints (I imagine quite a pricey option)
- Set up a computer kiosk for visitors to order prints they like via a 3rd party, to be delivered to their home address (less costly set-up, probably ongoing fees)
I know that some of the nationals have had similar set-ups (I remember seeing something like it at Tate) but I wondered whether any smaller museums had experience of setting something like this up?
I'm also wondering whether, for this museum who are fairly small with limited resources, going down a more traditional route of printing a selection of their photographs ready to sell at the counter might not be a cheaper / simpler option.
Any ideas, comments or past experiences most welcome!
Cheers,
Sarah
