Hi Nicolas
I'm not sure how much use this is as there have been some great suggestions
already.
Over the past month I've been running a few workshops for Museums based in
the West Midlands titled 'Broadening Digital Horizons'. The idea was what
cool stuff could be built by non-techy museum staff with tiny budgets. We
built a couple of things that might be of interest.
The first was an interactive touch-screen using PowerPoint (running on
PowerPoint viewer - so no need to buy extra Microsoft licenses) on an
off-the-shelf touch screen and Stick PC.
The second was creating Interactive Fiction (using Twine). The idea being
is the story created should be set in their museum - referencing objects
that the player can see around them in the real world. The experience can
run on mobile phone / tablet or in-gallery on a touch-screen.
I've written up the tutorials that I used in the workshops:
- http://johnsear.com/tutorial-in-gallery-interactive-fiction/
These don't quite fit your connecting to CMS requirement though.
(Technically you could connect Twine up to your CMS - but that's a far
from straight-forward step!)
All the best
