De Montfort University has recently formed a new School of Design which brings together the key aspects of Product, Furniture, Interior, Craft Design, Fashion and Textiles. The school incorporates undergraduate, post graduate and PhD study with excellence in teaching, research and design consultancy.
We require a dynamic and forward thinking individual to lead the subject of Critical and Contextual Studies within the School. Critical and Contextual Studies is taught in each of our undergraduate programmes to over 1,000 students. The theoretical underpinning of design theory is also delivered to our growing post graduate provision to a range of UK and international students.
With a PhD in a design history related subject you will have an excellent understanding of the subject area, have proven leadership skills and be passionate about developing the subject area within the context of a changing higher education landscape.
An excellent track record of research, resulting in a REF 2014 submission, as well as experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level is essential.
