Saturday 19 May 2016, MOMA Machynlleth: ‘The Power of Place’
A day exploring responses to Welsh landscape in the works of writers and artists from the late C18th to the present day, including William Gilpin, Catherine Hutton, JMW Turner, Cornelius Varley, John Sell Cotman, Edward Pugh, David Jones, John Piper and contemporary featured artist Helen Sear. Speakers include: Peter Wakelin, Damian Walford Davies, John Barrell, Andrew Green, Elizabeth Edwards, Luke Thurston, Mary-Ann Constantine, Helen Sear.
A collaborative event organized by the AHRC-funded ‘Curious Travellers: Thomas Pennant and the Welsh and Scottish Tour 1760-1820’ and the exhibition ‘Romanticism in the Welsh Landscape’, MOMA Machynlleth.
