Dear list members
Myself and a colleague are hosting an exhibition at Birmingham City University regarding a club night called The Click Club in Birmingham that held live music from 1986-1990. The promotor was also a photographer and took thousands of photos of the bands he booked to play such as Blur, Primal Scream, James, Pop Will Eat Itself and lots of others. We've been going through his archives and 'learning on the job' about scanning negatives to a quality for exhibition standards.
To cut a long story short, we have discovered we are the owners of a Hasselblad Flextight X5 scanner which I'm informed is pretty good! However, for whatever reason, a strip holder for negatives wasn't purchased. The item is called a Imacon 949/848/646/X1/X5 24x36x6 Strip Holder. We have sourced a supplier but they are out of stock and we are desperately trying to purchase one from Hasselblad in Sweden but it is touch and go.
We urgently need this strip holder (or one that does 4 instead of 6 negatives) as we have to use this particular machine instead of the Epsom we have been using as the quality of all the scanning we have done thus far doesn't meet the required standards of the owner of the negatives.
So this is a request to this community in the unlikely hope someone may have this particular apparatus and would be willing to hire it to us at BCU for a short period. Or we will purchase it if you don't need it (they are about £140 new).
Unlikely I know but it is desperate measures time!
