Job Summary:
The Salvation Army International Heritage Centre is recruiting for a qualified Archivist to catalogue a recent accession of family papers from a prominent Salvation Army officer (minister). Commissioner James Allister Smith (1866-1960) served as a missionary officer in South Africa, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal. As well as providing rich details on the history of The Salvation Army, the records also cover developments in the history of southern Africa and changes in society throughout the twentieth century.
Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience of cataloguing substantial archival collections, particularly using Calm software. The post will also work alongside Heritage Centre staff to provide reader services and answer enquiries, prior experience of which is essential.

The applicant will have extensive experience of cataloguing substantial archival collections using recognised standards, and will ideally hold a recognised post-graduate qualification in archive administration.
