Many thanks everybody for your replies. I will start from scratch after the holidays working my way through the suggested fixes and will let you know the result. Happy Easter everyone.

If all these (possibly helpful) suggestions don’t work then I would suggest contacting our support team with as much information as possible: Mac model, OS, Capture One version, type of cable used and whatever troubleshooting steps you have taken so far

Subject: Re: Tethering Nikon D800

Hi
I use my D800 tethered to an early 2008 macbook pro running capture one 8.3 without any problems. I recently did a job where I needed to use both my D800 and a Canon 5D these worked fine together just by selecting the camera I wished to use.

You might want to have a look in preferences and try uninstalling cameras and getting the latest drivers for the camera.

Capture one 9.1 has its own engine for tethering Canons rather than using Canon so may work better.

Let us know how you get on I am not by my machine Ivor but if you contact me off line next week I may be able to chat you through it.

Kind regards

Paul Gardner

I occasionally use my D800 tethered to Sofortbild and that is a bit hit and miss - sometimes it recognises it and sometimes not. However it usually only takes two or three attempts and then works ok. Best Max

We tether a Nikon D810 to Capture One 8. Early problems were resolved by making sure the software was the newest version. You may also want to make sure the camera firmware is up to date.

Edward is right that you can only have Nikon OR Canon enabled at any one time.

Feel free to send me more details if you need help.

Cheers,
Cliff

Does anybody have any experience of shooting with a Nikon D800 tethered to a MacBook Pro using Capture One ? Try as I might I can't get the software to recognise the camera. Not sure if the problem belongs to Nikon, Apple or Phase so thought I'd float it first.
Many thanks.
