3 x Data Scientists (permanent roles)

HMRC are currently undertaking significant investment in developing Data Science, including the establishment of a Hadoop environment, an increase in the tool-set available to users, and investment in data scientists and their support, development and progression.
The Data Exploitation team are looking for data scientists to lead on the use of data and analysis to drive forward transformative change in HMRC. Partnering with HMRC lines of business, these roles will work on the most complex, visible and significant analytical challenges facing the department in its ambitious digital transformation programme.
We are looking for people with the following skills:
• Experience delivering business transformation through data driven analysis.
• Experience in working with and analysing large and complex data sources, including structured, semi-structured and unstructured
• Programming knowledge in a high level language (Python, R, C++, Java etc)
• Experience of statistical computing environments such as R, SAS, or SQL
• Ability to think creatively to identify and deliver new, innovative analysis projects from existing and new data sources.
• Ability to interpret and communicate complex analytical concepts to senior and operational staff both technical and non-technical.
These roles are based in Manchester.
