Consultant needed to prepare a literature Review on medicalisation/biomedicalisation and LGB populations
We are looking for someone to write a literature review on medicalization/ biomedicalisation in relation to Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual (LGB) populations. This should be a review of literature that critically examines medical/biomedical knowledge production around LGB populations in relation to the social/political uses and consequences of biomedical interventions aimed at these populations. Possible areas might include:
· Mental health/psychiatric interventions.
· HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention.
· Reproductive and sexual health technologies.
· Alcohol/drug interventions.
· Life course/ageing.
· The production and consumption of epidemiological bio-medical categories and knowledges around LGB populations.
· Differences between lesbian, gay and bisexual experiences of medicalisation/biomedicalisation
The reviewer should have an understanding of medicalisation/biomedicalisation theory and the parameters and of the review (for example whether to include historical research) can be decided in consultation with the reviewer. The purpose of the review is to inform grant proposal writing priorities and it is anticipated the review will later form the basis of a peer-reviewed journal article.
Please note we are not including trans populations for this review as we feel that the experiences of this group demands a separate review which we hope to focus on at a later date.
Total available for this review is £2,970. The review itself needs to be completed by 15th July 2016 and any resulting journal article completed thereafter. For more information, please contact Dr Peter Keogh ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).

Following the 87% vote in favour of Action Short of a Strike, as a UCU member I am currently engaged in industrial action. This 'working to rule' means that I shall not be dealing with emails outside of normal working hours. The action is in support of the UCU's campaign to stop the University from closing seven of the nine regional centres in England.
