Hi,
I do hope this is all right but I need to pick your collective brains.
I am looking for successful local (most likely grass roots) campaigns which changed the conception of streets for both residents and councils both in the UK and elsewhere.
The sort of campaigns and styles may be:
* engage with authority (and challenge to do better design),
* artful and funny campaigns, maybe pointing out terrible infrastructure maybe using an artistic approach,
* direct action approaches,
* web based campaigns with bits of the above.
This is only *partly* focussing on cycling - more about streets being things we can cherish, about lower speeds, pedestrianisation, things like this. I know there are some interesting things out there and the collective knowledge of this forum is probably going to be a goldmine here!
cheers,
alan munro
