Dear all,
Please excuse the self-promotion but I wanted to extend an invitation to a session at the AAG meetings next week on environmental governance in Costa Rica, which despite our best efforts (many of our initial invitees are in Vancouver for the SfAA meetings at the same time) ended up an all white male panel. We are hoping to use this session to develop an edited volume on the theme and are in contact with several potential publishers already. So if you would like to contribute to such a book or are just interested in the topic please consider attending the session and/or emailing me directly. Thanks!
Rob

Session Description: Costa Rica has long been considered one of the world's premier "laboratories" for testing and experimentation in cutting-edge environmental policy. From protected area management to ecotourism to payment for environmental services and beyond, for the past half-century the country has successfully positioned itself at the forefront of novel strategies for environmental management, conservation, and sustainable development. Yet the global environmental movement is in the midst of another profound change right now, with the combined effects of the economic and climate crises compelling many shifts in policy and programming -much of this centered on the emerging concept of the Green Economy. Hence, Costa Rica's ability to remain on the forefront of environmental governance is being tested yet again. This panel brings together researchers to discuss the current state of environmental governance in the country and to assess how this will or should change in the future.
