sorry my fault. I have overseen that the old default modulation of VBM8 was still mentioned in the manual. Although this type of modulation was used in previous VBM versions as default it is not recommended anymore because the use of the standard modulation in combination with TIV as covariate gives more reliable results (Malone et al. 2015; Neuroimage). TIV can be easily estimated using the resp. function in CAT12.
