The Research Centre for Children, Families and Communities (RCfCFC) invites applications for MPhil/PhD studies in ‘Contemporary Studies in Childhood, Youth and Parenthood’.
The RCfCFC is a research intensive Centre which made a central contribution to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), including 25% of the research outputs and substantial contributions to 2 of 3 impact case studies submitted under the Education Unit of Assessment (UoA 25). 87.5% of the research environment in education was assessed as internationally excellent, ranked in the top 20 universities in England and 100% of the case studies were graded as 'internationally excellent' or 'internationally recognised' and as having benefit to society.
The RCfCFC embraces a holistic, cross disciplinary approach to high-quality research, with a focus on a commitment to enhance the lives and life chances of children, young people, families and communities.
For 2016 applications, we are specifically looking for candidates with an interest in:
• The Politics of Early Childhood Care and Education (birth to three)
• Social Divisions and Youth Marginalization
• Motherhood and Family Wellbeing

We offer full-time PhD scholarships (a stipend of £13,000 pa and free tuition for three years) for successful applicants.
The application deadline is Monday 18th April 2016, although students are strongly encouraged to contact potential supervisors before then.
Registration for successful applicants will be 1st October 2016.
